Make Jenny a housewife - Part1 Chili

The title explains itself. Dedicated to our dear friend Jenny.
$31.59 will feed you for 3 days 3 meals a day, maybe even more. I doubt you'll want chili/tacos breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 3 days straight though.

Ingredients list:
~1lb. ground beef (90% lean, any less and you'll have to drain the fat)
2-3 stalks of celery
3-4 cloves of garlic (your preference depending on size of cloves)
1 onion
1 potato
1-2 stalks of green onions
1 8oz. container of sour cream
1 bag of shredded sharp cheddar (or any other cheese you prefer)
1 tbsp salt
3 tbsp McCormick's Montreal Steak Seasoning (optional)
1 McCormick's Chili Seasoning Mix
1 Can diced tomatoes
1 Can black beans
1 Can cut green beans (optional)

Prep work

*Any cooking will involve some type of prep work. So Jenny, be patient and cut all these veggies.
  • Mince garlic and set aside in a small bowl.
  • Chop onion, celery, potato(cube) and set aside.
  • Open cans of black beans, green beans, diced tomatoes.

COOKING!

Using a medium sized pot turn heat on to medium-high (8 out of 10 if you have a dial knob).

Heat up the ground beef by breaking it up into small bits and putting them in.

Add the garlic, onions, celery, salt and montreal steak seasoning.

Once all the meat is brown and veggies translucent, add potatoes, tomatoes (with juice) and black beans (with juice), green beans (without juice).

Turn heat to high and add chili seasoning and stir it all together.

Bring to a boil and then drop the heat to low and let simmer. Stir occasionally in between because the meat and potatoes will stay on the bottom.
After about 30 mins, serve over your favorite pasta or rice and top off with green onions/scallions and shredded cheese.

Merry Christmas Jenny!
